Indexation of an amount based on a fluctuating indexation table

Calculates the actual or future value of a product, service (or other) following an indexation table.

A few concrete applications:

  • Effect of inflation (or other index) on the present value of a product, service, indemnity, etc.
  • Comparison of a stock market investment and a term deposit or other.
  • Present value of an historical investment in various market indices, mutual funds or other...

Indexation of an amount

Creation of an indexation table from variable payments

This utility creates, using variable periodic payments (regular or irregular) an indexation table which may be used thereafter in other calculations ("Accrual by Installment", "Present Value" or "Indexation of an amount").

This allows the user to enter the payment changes and corresponding dates in order to obtain an indexation table that can then be used to create complex interest tables with uniform and non uniform payments.

Indexation converter

Nominal interest rate - effective (real) interest rate converter

Based on a compounding period, converts a nominal interest rate to the corresponding real interest rate. The effective rate may also be converted to the nominal rate.

The calculation also allows to convert an interest rate quoted on a particular basis (monthly or other) and to convert this rate on a different basis (semiannually or other). For example, a nominal annual rate of 8.25% compounded monthly equals an annual nominal rate of 8.393% compounded semiannually (the effective rate in both cases is identical at 8.569%). Banks will often use different nomenclatures for which comparisons may be difficult unless these can be converted to an effective interest rate.
